    Artist statement

Sunflowers presents a field of radiant forms that resemble blooming flowers, yet upon closer look, they reveal fragmented human faces. What appears vibrant and full of life begins to feel unsettled, as each face seems partially hidden, distorted, or incomplete.

I am interested in the contrast between brightness and emotional distance. Sunflowers traditionally follow light, symbolizing warmth, growth, and vitality, but here they become quiet observers—present, yet disconnected. The repetition of these forms suggests a collective presence, while the fractured features hint at isolation within that group.

Through layered textures and broken lines, I explore how identity can be shaped, obscured, and repeated. Even in a field filled with light, there is a lingering sense that something remains unresolved—like a memory that cannot fully surface, or a voice that cannot fully form.
